Egotism is a concept coined by Stendhal to describe the analysis performed by someone on itself in order to “refine his feelings to better enjoy.”The egotism of a long philosophical tradition, which dates back to Plato (Know Thyself), the Essays of Montaigne or today introspection or psychoanalytic theories of development.

In morality, we use the term ego to refer to an individual whose behavior is based on research development.
